Mt. Irish Archaeological District

Download the Mt Irish Trail Guide and the Lincoln Co. Rock Art Guide from our main page.

The Mt Irish Archaeological District is approximately 110 miles north of Las Vegas, Nevada and 45 miles west of Caliente, Nevada.
Mt Irish appears to have been inhabited from around 3000 BP (1000 BC) to around the 1860's when silver miners came into the area.  The miners stayed, forming the town of Logan and even getting a post office in 1867.  By 1869 the miners had moved on to new diggings near Pioche.

The road to this site is normally in good condition, but I still recommend a high clearance vehicle.

The turn off from SR 318 to Mt Irish.  Coordinates for the turn off:  37° 33.992'    115° 13.879'

This was the gate several years ago at SR 318 and the road to Mt Irish.  It may have been updated.

To make your trip safer and easier, I recommend that you download both the "Mount Irish Trail Guide" and the "Lincoln Co. Rock Art Guide".  These guides are probably the best guides that I have come across.  Lincoln County BLM, unlike Clark County BLM, has a much more progressive attitude towards getting the public involved in viewing rock art.  Both of these guides can be downloaded from our main page .
For more information please contact the Caliente BLM Field Office (775) 726-8100.
