Scenic Loop - Part I: Calico Hills 2 Overlook Area and Rock Art
Calico Hills 2 Overlook Petroglyphs: Park at the Calico Hills 2 Overlook. Take the trail towards the Sand Quarry. In a short distance where the trail forks, take the left (upper) trail. The distance from the parking area to the marked BLM petroglyph site is approximately 1/2 mile. Click here for Calico Hills 2 Map.
The photo on the left is standing at the trailhead looking down the trail leading to the site with the upper trail shown. The photo on the right is the marked BLM petroglyph site. Be sure and check the top of the rock just above the marked one as there are petroglyphs on the top of it which many people miss.
Caution: This is a short hike on a well- marked trail but there are steep slopes and many places with loose gravel. Know your limits and abilities. See our: "A Few Tips for Hiking in the Desert" page.
